Employment OpportunitiesSurficial Geologist This competition is for a full-time term position to March 2011. The Surficial Geologist is responsible for conducting original scientific research for the branch by planning and carrying out detailed surficial deposit and permafrost mapping of assigned areas, compiling permafrost, surficial and climate data in areas of Yukon Government infrastructure, coordinating laboratory and other studies, synthesizing and interpreting the results, preparing geological reports and maps for publication and poster and oral presentations. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in physical geography, geology or a related field of study combined with considerable experience in the above will also be considered. Condition(s) of Employment: Valid Class 5 driver’s license and pre-employment medical clearance. Job Requirement(s): Willingness to travel within Yukon. A one year eligibility list will be established from this competition to fill future vacancies for identical positions and may also be used for similar positions within the department.
