In anticipation of vacancies occurring from time to time, Family and Children’s Services, Department of Health and Social Services maintains an inventory of applicants for the position of Child-Youth Support Worker.

Do you truly enjoy working with children?  Are you creative, flexible and energetic?  Then we would be interested in hearing from you.

Working as a Child-Youth Support Worker, you will provide children/youth who are supported by Family Services or in the Family & Children’s Services Director’s care, with a positive and supportive role model by supervising visits with birth families, modeling appropriate social skills and engaging them in activities and events to encourage positive relationships and personal growth. 

The ideal candidate will possess post secondary coursework in Child & Youth Care, Early Childhood   Development, Education, Social Work or other related fields combined with experience implementing community based recreational of life skills programming.  Experience working with children or youth is essential.  Experience working with persons who have behavioural special needs would be an asset. 

This is an on-going competition with no closing date.  There is no guarantee of work hours.  This inventory is maintained on a continual basis and applications will be actively retained for one year. 

Condition(s) of Employment: Security Clearance; valid Yukon Class 5 Drivers License; Standard First Aid/CPR

Job Requirement(s): Working evenings and weekends is a requirement of the job.
