Healthy and safe workplace
We strive to make every part of our work environment progressive and supportive. Here are just some of our healthy workplace initiatives:
Social and wellness programs
A workplace culture that supports physical and mental wellness, and social bonds is also more effective and employees are more engaged. Through departmental activities, social events and fitness challenges employees have the opportunity to connect with their coworkers and get some exercise for their body and mind.
Short term counselling to help cope with life’s changes
Short-term counselling services are available to all Yukon government employees and their immediate family members under the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP). The EFAP offers in person, telephone, video and e-counselling that are completely confidential and free to the employee. This service can help with a range of life and work issues or concerns. Additional support may be covered by an employee’s benefit plan.
Managing conflict and creating respectful workplaces
Our Respectful Workplace office provides conflict management services to Yukon government employees including employee orientation, training and education on a respectful workplace, conflict coaching, mediation and facilitated conversations, work group conflict assessment, group facilitation and circle processes.
We want to make sure that our organization evolves along with the culture and expectations of our people. So every two years, we conduct the Employee Engagement survey that examines our success in the areas of job satisfaction, respectful practices, engagement, communication, hiring, and training practices. These surveys help us see where we are excelling and where we can improve to meet our employee’s needs.
